What to expect at a boudoir session – Photos by Keshia

Now I can’t speak for all boudoir photographers, however here is the down low on what to except at a boudoir session with me!

I know many of you sign up scared, show up nervous, and guess what leave happy, feeling empowered, and ready to shoot again! With that being said here are a few questions, tips, tricks, and things to remember!

TIPS

Tip #1: Show up on time. By on time, I mean 10 min before your session. Better to be early, then late and miss out on your session!

Tip #2: Try to think about what type of boudoir session image you want.

Sexy & sultry, Cute & flirty, or Casual & “just out of bed look”

Try to find outfits that go with that theme. Keep in mind, not all outfits have to be bought at Victoria Secret’s for 100+ dollars. Now are those outfits are awesome yes, but his shirt, your shirt, his work gear, sports outfits, or his favorite panties work great too! Make the session you! Check out Ross, TJ Max, your closet!

Tip #3: Try those outfits on before the session! Make sure you like them! If you don’t like them on, you want like them in a picture! Also CUT the tags off and out of lacy outfits! The show in pictures!

Q&A

Q: What do most gals purchase from their boudoir session?

A: Most popular are Little Black Books, or collections that include them along with digital images and a statement canvas piece!

Q: What can you expect during the session?

A: Expect FUN! We will start off with easy posing and get a little more creative along the way. But don’t worry, I walk you through it all and show you how to be the diva you know you are and teach you all the little tricks!

Q: How should you prepare for the session?

A: 1. Gather all your outfits, makeup, touch up hair utensils, anything else you think you may need. Double check to make sure you have it all! That little bitty thong can get lost in the mitts of it all! lol

2. Do a little searching on where else, Pintrest! Keep in mind we may not be able to get that exact photo but we can get inspiration from it!

3. Keep calm, bring a friend, do what you need to do. Don’t crash diet, it is never healthy. But think about what you are eating the week prior. If you are healthy, you will feel more healthy about yourself, which in return make you feel more confident!

Q: How many outfits do you suggest for a variety ?

At a typically 1 hour session I suggest 2-3. This can always include a quick change of a shirt, taking it on and off, adding sheets in the mix, or adding subtle things!

Q: Is having my hair and makeup professionally done a necessary thing?  Is there someone you recommend?

A: It isn’t necessary, no. However, it does look great in photos! I think it also helps with your confidence. Getting your hair and makeup done makes you feel AMAZING!! So naturally, that makes you feel hot, making you want to take pictures, making for awesome pictures! 🙂
